Empty Air
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Sequel to my previous game, Unending Vapidness. It isn't necessary to play UV to understand this one, but it probably won't be as enjoyable.
Lilia's life has been looking up after she leaves her home to live with her best friend, Marcia. But there are still things that need to be dealt with.
Features:
- 100% Hand-drawn sprites (I still don't have a drawing pad!)
- 3 whole characters!
- ~5,000 words (Probably. I didn't check).
- Yuri! (Lilia gets none of it)
Content Warnings:
- Bad, transphobic family confrontations
- Brief (story relevant) references to sex
- General feelings of frustration and inadequacy.
This will be the last visual novel I make about Lilia, since there isn't much more to explore regarding her. I hope you support my future projects, and please leave a comment talking about what you enjoyed and what you didn't!
With Love,
Calcarina

Alright I gave Unending Vapidness a shot and came back to this one! I think you've made some improvements since the last one, and personally I like the paper art style you have going on, it's cool! Also damn. This needs a cuckoldry tag (JOKING). I'm not gonna lie, I've kind of been in this situation before??? At least, having a friend turn me down and remaining platonic partners and etc. And yes, even the sex in the other room thing. it is indeed kind of arousing to be in that spot. So yeah painfully relatable to me lol. Honestly I would like a third story with these two and give them some proper closure, maybe have Lilia find someone who likes her back or something. However I'd be excited for any future projects too!
Thank you very much for commenting. I mean it, I live for any and all feedback. My art style comes from my very limited set of tools and experience, so passing it off as an aesthetic choice rather than my only option goes a long way towards my vain attempts to look like serious artist.
I always feel weird writing romantic stuff because while my greatest wish is to be loved, I have never felt any kind of attraction to someone else before, so I always wonder if I'm writing this stuff correctly. I'm drawn to unrequited love because it's tragic in a very mundane way. "I like you, you don't like me back. It sucks, but there's nothing either of us can do about it." My favorite aspect of unrequited love is that the two characters can still stay friends afterwards, even if it's difficult and messy. I try to put an emphasis on that fact that Marcia still loves Lilia very much, even if it can't be in the exact way that Lilia wants.
The sex in the other room thing was mostly just something I thought would be really funny and painful to read, I didn't put a whole lot of thought into it.
I'm happy that you'd be interested in a third story, but for me at least, I think this is where the story ends. Obviously Lilia still has a lot of things she needs to sort out, but I don't know how I'd write about them, and I don't have confidence that it would turn out any good. I also don't want to keep making sequels, but that's more of a personal preference, rather than a concrete principle.
Once again, thank you very, very much.
Of course that's fair! I look forward to any project you decide to put out in the future.
Also, just a tip, as someone who's also done the "paper-drawn characters on a digital medium" thing before - the biggest problem right now is that your pictures are not very well lit. So I would try to get some good lighting, and playing with the brightness and contrast of the drawings in paint.net or something so the background is more white and the lines are more black. I would even consider using a magic wand tool to isolate the lines from the background!
